Stars are not really in favour of the famous filmmaker, Rajkumar Hirani, who was accused of sexual misconduct. It was saddening, shocking and disheartening to see his name embroiled in a controversy that’s hard to ignore. A junior working with him on Sanju has accused him of sexual assault and the producers of his upcoming movies are in no mood to turn a blind eye for the same. Hirani, as we all know, was currently working on a script for Munnabhai 3. The scripting was nearly done when Vidhu Vinod Chopra and his wife Anupama Chopra received a mail from the victim narrating her horrific story in December.
According to a report in Mid-Day, after the allegations were hurled against the director, Fox Star who had a three-film deal with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s production house has backed out of backing Munna Bhai 3. They will even cut-off their partnership if the studio continues to have a working relationship with Hirani and support him in any way. This further implies that Munna Bhai 3 which was in the pre-production stage will be put on hold momentarily.
A source from Star India in its conversation with the tabloid said, “In a meeting in late December, it was decided that Fox would pull the plug on Munna Bhai 3 if Hirani was found guilty. The studio stands in solidarity with the survivor. VVC Films to has taken the matter seriously and dropped Hirani’s name from the promotional material of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.”
An ICC is set by VVC Films and it will investigate Hirani’s matter. And, Munna Bhai 3 will be on hold till Hirani gets a clean chit.
