Sara Ali Khan is all set to make her big Bollywood debut in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. While the movie was a victim of many controversies and delays, Kedarnath is finally up for a release on December 7, 2018. Kedarnath is a simple love story between a Muslim pithoo and an upper-class Hindu pilgrim and set against the backdrop of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods. The teaser of Kedarnath has been well received by fans but there is a section that is unhappy with the film.
According to media, Kedarnath priests have demanded a blanket ban on the Abhishek Kapoor directorial claiming that the film promotes Love Jihad. A written plea has been sent to the makers, producer Ronnie Screwvala and director Abhishek Kapoor by the organisation of the priests – Kedar Sabha, requesting them to rechristen the love story. “We had no idea about the film’s plot before we saw the trailer. Some of the scenes in the promo are objectionable,” NP Jamloki (executive officer of Kedar Sabha) stated.

Jamloki stated that the priests have found it disappointing to see that the movie which bears the name of a religious place would be hurtful to the community. They have now requested the makers to change the title in order to not mislead the audience about the sanctity of the shrine. “Fiction can’t be so far-fetched. The story raises questions on the social dynamics of the place,” Jamloki asserted.
We hope things get sorted out and that Sara’s debut film gets a smooth release.
