UBER and NASA teams up to develop flying electric taxis which could travel at 200 mph speeds. Uber teamed up with Nasa, the space agency ,in order to design drone style flying electric taxis. Surprisingly, the taxi app firm have decided to test them within three years. This pilotless vehicle would carry around four people.
POSITIVE ASPECTS OF FLYING ELECTRIC TAXIS:
- Time of journey could be cut short. To put it in another way, a rush hour car journey that would take 80 minutes could be cut to just four minutes.
- Flying electric taxis would have a speed of 200 mph.
Now the work is progressing and currently they are developing a software for the Uber Air Project, mean while Nasa is getting ready to provide aerospace expertise. The firm’s Jeff Holden has hailed it as “a crucial step forward” in getting flying taxis off the ground.
This sketch of a fly taxi was released by Uber in the year 2016. Uber is now planning to test their new flying taxis within the next decade. Holden, who is chief product officer, said Uber would begin testing proposed four-passenger, 200-miles-per-hour flying taxi services in Dallas and Fort Worth before conducting a second test across Los Angeles in 2020. The contract with Nasa came as a part of Uber’s appeal against having its London appeal license revoked over safety fears.
In brief, lets hope for a more gently ride soon.
